Ranking Criteria
Criteria for Ranking University Academic Programs in the Kyrgyz Republic
The subject-specific ranking criteria of are grouped into six key categories:
· Academic reputation
· Employer reputation
· Educational Environment
· Scopus Publications
· Hirsch index (h-index)
· International research network (by broad faculty areas)
Academic Reputation
The ranking methodology includes a survey of 150 leading faculty members in each field. Based on their responses, this indicator reflects which universities are considered by scholars to be the best for research in that specific area. The survey results are then filtered according to the narrow field of study specified by the respondents.
Employer Reputation Assessment
A survey of 75 leading employers in each industry will help determine the reputation of each academic program within the professional community. The employer reputation indicator is based on responses from these surveys. Employers are asked to identify the institutions they consider ideal for hiring graduates. They are also asked to specify which academic disciplines they prefer to recruit from.
Educational Environment
This includes faculty-to-student ratio, the number of full-time faculty, percentage of faculty with advanced degrees, availability of labs, computer rooms, and other teaching resources.
Scopus Publications and Citations
All citation data is sourced from Elsevier Scopus. A minimum publication threshold is established for each subject area to prevent potential anomalies caused by a small number of highly cited papers.
Both the minimum publication threshold and the weighting of the citation indicator are adjusted to best reflect the prevailing patterns of publication and citation in each specific discipline.
Hirsch Index (H-index)
The H-index measures both the productivity and impact of researchers or departments, based on their most cited publications and the number of citations they have received.
International Research Network (by broad Faculty areas)
This indicator assesses a university’s ability to develop geographically diverse and sustainable research partnerships with international institutions.
Each program is evaluated separately, with specific weighting and scoring methods approved prior to each ranking cycle.
Criteria may be adjusted based on updates to international ranking methodologies or stakeholder feedback.
